Technology
Dunning and Associates are well acquainted with the technology, methods, and tools required to design and engineer yachts to the highest standard. In a typical high-end project, computer aided design (CAD) tools are used to develop the hull and appendage shapes and to define the deck plans, general arrangements, rig drawings, and related systems. Candidate shapes are evaluated with models in test tanks and wind tunnels, and augmented by computational fluid dynamics (CFD) and velocity prediction programs (VPP). Structural design and arrangements are made in accordance with relevant classification requirements and supported by design calculations and computer modeling with finite element analysis (FEA) software.
