D. H. (Rick) Harris
Rick is a lifelong sailor who joins Dunning and Associates with 22 of years experience in the analysis of ship and sailing yacht performance. He holds a bachelors degree in naval architecture from Webb Institute, a masters degree in mechanical engineering, and a Ph.D. in aerospace engineering. He is a former employee of the University of Maryland's Glenn L. Martin Wind Tunnel and Reichel/Pugh Yacht Design. Rick has been involved in the America's Cup as consultant to Oracle Racing in 2003, and as a key member of the Mascalzone Latino-Capitalia Team 2007 America's Cup Challenge design team. Rick's expertise includes marine hydrodynamics, aerodynamics, tank and wind tunnel testing, performance prediction, system theory, and applied mathematics.
As a sailor, Rick has been an active competitor most of his life, primarily in one-design dinghy and keelboat classes. He has competed in multiple US, North American, and World championships.
